Meet the founder- Jamie
“I cannot change what happened to me. But together, we can change what children are taught.”
I never imagined that one day I would be campaigning for relationship education to become a fundamental part of every child’s education.
Like so many survivors, I spent years asking myself one question:
“If somebody had taught me what abuse looked like, would my life have been different?”
That question became the foundation of The Safe Relationship Campaign.

Turning Experience Into Change
Throughout my life, I have experienced the devastating impact of abuse in different forms — from childhood trauma to coercive control and domestic abuse.
Those experiences shaped my understanding of how abuse develops, how it can hide in plain sight and how easily unhealthy behaviours can become normal when nobody teaches us otherwise.
Today, I use those experiences differently.
As an advocate, public speaker and safeguarding educator, I work alongside schools, police forces, charities and professionals to improve understanding of abuse, trauma and healthy relationships.
Every audience reminds me of one thing:
Most abuse doesn’t begin with violence.
It can begin with control. With manipulation. With isolation. With behaviours that many people have simply never been taught to recognise.
That is why The Safe Relationship Campaign exists.
Why This Campaign Matters to Me
We teach children mathematics. We teach science. We teach history.
Yet many young people can leave education without fully understanding what healthy love feels like, how coercive control can develop, what emotional abuse can look like or how to recognise grooming and manipulation.
They may not have been taught how to set healthy boundaries, recognise unsafe behaviour or know how to ask for help safely.
These are life skills — not optional lessons.
I believe education gives us an opportunity to intervene earlier.
Not after someone has experienced abuse. Not when unhealthy behaviours have already become normalised.
Before.
From Lived Experience to Prevention
The Safe Relationship Campaign isn't about teaching children to fear relationships.
It is about giving them knowledge.
I want children and young people to understand respect, equality, boundaries and healthy relationships. I want them to recognise when behaviour isn't right and have the confidence to speak to someone they trust.
Most importantly, I don't want another generation growing up and asking the same question I did:
“Why did nobody teach me this?”
Help Us Create Change
My experiences may have been the starting point for this campaign, but meaningful change will require all of us.
Together, we can show the UK Government that stronger relationship education matters and that children deserve the knowledge to build safe, healthy relationships throughout their lives.
Every voice strengthens the campaign.
